An individual who contaminated sweets with sedative and provided them to youngsters at a youth camp in the region has admitted sexual crimes against two young males both nine and 10.
The defendant was taken into custody after eight minors and a grown-up became sick at the facility in July.
The elderly man, from that region, confessed to a multiple criminal counts when he appeared at the courthouse on the end of the week.
However, he refused to admit one particular crime he was charged with, which was against a nine-year-old boy.
The accused was held in detention ahead of a further hearing on November 28th.
'Candy game'
The prosecutor, handling the case, detailed the defendant's actions to the judicial body.
She said his those affected were children from difficult backgrounds who were participating in a youth camp which he managed.
The defendant engaged in a "treat game" with the children, the legal counsel said, in which he would go into the children's bedrooms when they were settling down and ask them to eat sweets "rapidly".
She told the court the defendant had conducted this practice with the young males "for many years", and minors had earlier experienced illness the subsequent day.
She said the man had been capable of justifying this for many years as the minors being "overexcited from fun", until his stepson had worries in recently.
Mrs Prior KC added: "This year his stepchild had suspicions about what was going on, with valid cause.
"They decided to investigate in the man's possessions."
The legal counsel stated items including infant oil, ointment and syringes were located, and his family member contacted the police about his worries.
She stated the defendant continued to engage in the "sweet game" with six youngsters that time - Saturday 26 July - and they were everyone unwell the following morning.
"Authorities" had not gone out by that point," she continued.
The police watchdog, the investigative body, had stated that it was examining law enforcement's management of the events.
Mrs Prior said the children were unable to walk properly due to their condition, so the stepson contacted the police once more.
She said the man then played the "candy game" in a area of five youngsters.
